About Us
Just like the
barn-raisings of old and neighbors helping neighbors, Rebuilding Together is the
American spirit in action bringing people together to help community members in
need repair their homes and yards.
The Rebuilding
Together national office began in 1988 with 13 loosely organized programs in
operation. Facilitating the planning, development and coordination of all
renovation projects and services and focusing on replicating the volunteer model
in cities around the country. The national organization grew to over 200
affiliates serving more than 955 communities and renovating over 100,000 homes.
Today various services are in operation in many areas among them emergency
services, home modifications, weatherization and non-profit facility repair.
Rebuilding
Together Oakland County (“RTOC”) was founded in 1992 and has rehabilitated over
450 homes and a number of non-profit facilities adding over $4 million dollars
in market value to the neighborhoods and communities and allowing the homeowners
to remain in their homes in a safe and warm environment.
Core Values
ü
Committed to helping low-income individuals and families live in safe and
healthy homes while respecting their integrity and assets and strengthening
lives, homes, and communities.
ü
Working in partnership with volunteers, sponsors and neighborhoods and involving
residents in all aspects of our work, we value and collaborate with other groups
who share similar goals.
ü
We believe in quality planning, delivery, and evaluation of our services.
ü
We strive for inclusiveness and seek to promote a diversity that is reflective
of the communities we support.
ü
We recognize the uniqueness of each Rebuilding Together affiliate and their
communities and respect local flexibility and creativity in decision-making and
service delivery.
ü
Our core initiative and common denominator is organizing volunteers and
delivering free services on our National Rebuilding Day along with the efficient
and cost-effective leveraging of donated funds, materials, supplies and labor.
